The idea came from the copper head-dress made by the sitter, who is a friend of my daughter's. The garment is an attempt to reproduce a Greek peplos, but the linen was heavier than I would have liked.

All the painting was done without the use of photographs. I believe photographs are to a painter as baby wheels are to a cyclist.
