Electric Love

So here I sit, desperately waiting.
All I see now is a gray, starless night.
But my hollowness now cries for relief
To be touched by fiery, gorgeous light.

You became my food, my warmth and my life.
But now, a wicked pain burns through my soul.
You leave me now starving, cold and dying.
And still, the night sky is as black as coal.

I gaze to you heavenly as I wait
To feel that powerful electric gleam,
So full of hope and unbound happiness,
To recapture our love, yes - my sole dream.

So here I sit, desperately waiting.
All I see now is a gray, starless night.
And my hollowness still cries for relief
To be touched by fiery, gorgeous light!

Information:

During my 2nd year of medicine, I wanted to reignite my interest for literature having done it at A-Level. I really enjoy the challenge of writing poetry, putting together 'the best words in the best order.'

This poem developed from an initial idea of wanting to explore a love relationship in a different way - in this case, a man's longing to be with his dead wife - at the same time incorporating the world of nature (inspired by reading Robert Frost!).
